BETHLEHEM, PA — The future of kitchen design is shaping up with a focus on sustainability, wellness, and personalization, according to the latest 2025 Kitchen Trends Report by the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA). The report highlights key trends that will define kitchens over the next three years, including nature-inspired aesthetics, multifunctional appliances, and clutter-free spaces designed for seamless living.

The NKBA’s findings are based on a nationwide survey of over 500 industry professionals, including designers, manufacturers, remodelers, and architects.

Major Takeaways from the NKBA’s Report:

🔹 Retro Revival: Bright colors and earthy tones from the 1970s are making a comeback, with 52% of respondents favoring bold hues. Meanwhile, 47% see a resurgence of mid-century modern aesthetics from the 1950s.

🔹 Personalized Kitchens Take Center Stage: 71% of respondents prefer colorful kitchens that reflect personality, incorporating statement backsplashes, bold islands, and artistic elements. White and gray kitchens continue to decline in popularity.

🔹 Nature-Inspired Color Trends: Green remains the top choice for 2025 (76% of respondents), followed by blue (63%) and brown (56%). These hues bring warmth and a connection to nature into the kitchen space.

🔹 Mix-and-Match Finishes: 67% of respondents agree that blending colors and materials in backsplashes and cabinetry creates a unique kitchen aesthetic, while 84% expect lighting fixtures to feature mixed materials for added visual interest.

🔹 Statement Cabinets & Wood Finishes: 52% predict that cabinets will be a focal point for bold color choices, with white oak emerging as the preferred finish (59% of respondents).

🔹 Wellness-Driven Kitchen Design: With health-conscious living on the rise, 74% of respondents believe steam cooking and air frying technology will gain popularity. Additionally, 53% anticipate kitchens becoming more connected to the outdoors to support a wellness-focused lifestyle.

🔹 Biophilic Design on the Rise: 72% of industry experts report that homeowners want kitchens that seamlessly connect with nature. Large windows, sustainable materials, and energy-efficient designs will be top priorities.

🔹 Clutter-Free & Seamless Spaces: Hidden storage solutions are replacing open shelving, with 87% favoring concealed pantries and panel-ready appliances for a clean, streamlined look. Walk-in and butler’s pantries will also continue to rise in demand.

🔹 Multifunctional Appliances & Layouts: A staggering 91% of respondents say homeowners seek appliances with dual functions. Second kitchen islands are becoming more popular (52% support this trend), and 83% agree that sinks with integrated food prep and serving stations are gaining traction.

🔹 Lighting for Mood & Wellness: 74% of respondents highlight lighting as a key element in kitchen design. From maximizing natural light to using smart lighting for different moods—such as bright mornings and ambient evening settings—homeowners are increasingly prioritizing illumination for both function and well-being.

The 2025 Kitchen Trends Report confirms a shift toward more thoughtful, personalized, and wellness-focused spaces that enhance both lifestyle and aesthetics. Expect to see kitchens that are as functional as they are stylish, with nature-driven designs, innovative appliances, and smart solutions leading the way. Stay Tune!
